Serco Plc (SRP)
May 14th, 2008They are big and British and we're not talking about Mr Blobby's underpants here. We are talking about a company, obviously.
Almost no-one who has not worked for Serco has heard of it because it has more fingers in more pies than a leper working for Mr Kipling.
But analysts love it and have issued a vast number of buy notes so we thought w'd better take a look at this uniquely massive British thing.

The old cliché has it that as far as the stockmarket is concerned one should go away in May and come back again on St Leger Day. What? And miss out on all the fun? Reeling retailers. Broken banks. Crunching credit. There’s so much more than mere capital accumulation, yield and dividend. Not only are there bargains out there but also more than the odd laugh. Click on the portfolio to see how our writers have got on against the market.

If iBall comments on Serco were supposed to be either constructive or funny she failed dismally on both counts. This is a superb investment with splendid prospects which you wouldn’t have guessed from the clip.

How dare you say Serco are boring! I work here and it’s edge of your seat stuff, mainly because our division is making about one third of its staff redundant but hey, we’re not getting any sleep!
