Carpetright Plc (CPR.L)
June 16th, 2008The jokes about shag pile may be wearing as thin as living room floors across credit crunch hit Britain, as many feel the need to head down to the retail park for a few square meters of remnant Axminster. All this bargain hunting got us thinking about Carpetright Europe's leading specialist carpet and floor covering retailer, and once we looked we discovered that others appear to be looking too. Someone else thinks its sale time at Carpetright and they have just spent £15m on the shares, watch this episode of iBall to find out who and why.

June 17th, 2008 at 10:40 amThe ‘comeback to carpet’ move is well timed. I reckon the trend will switch from those ghastly laminate floors back to carpets over the next few years. Apart from anything else they mean less heating is needed per room = saving a few quid = v attractive in our banjaxed economy.

The old cliché has it that as far as the stockmarket is concerned one should go away in May and come back again on St Leger Day. What? And miss out on all the fun? Reeling retailers. Broken banks. Crunching credit. There’s so much more than mere capital accumulation, yield and dividend. Not only are there bargains out there but also more than the odd laugh.
