Dragon Oil Plc (DGO)

July 7th, 2008

Dragon Oil is one of those stocks that has engaged the attention of your discerning stock investor for many a year.

One sniff of the black gold in a part of the earth hitherto unheard of before the prospectors landed there is what oil exploration investing is all about, but the real question is……where on earth is it?

Better known as JD Sports on the High Street, like most retail sports stores it is subject to the same outside pressures as its competitors.

Namely the level of incompetence of the England football team. However, unlike most of its competitors…

…JD Sports has been getting the results it needs to storm its way up the table. Back to you in the studio John…

Care UK Plc (CUK)

July 1st, 2008

If there is one thing we can be guaranteed is going to become more abundant in the coming years, it is elderly people.

It follows then that if you can find a company which appears well placed to capitalise on this growing section of society.

You as investors can act on this by buying the shares. Then, perhaps it will be time for a cup of tea and a nice sit down.

Interesting company profile - and some worrying statistics. But am I alone in finding the presentation just a tad patronising?

  2. dan Says:

I don’t find it patronising, it is meant to be funny.

Dairy Crest Plc (DCG)

June 30th, 2008

So you thought the milkman and his trusty milk float were as much of a part of a bygone landscape as empty motorways and bakelite.

Well, 1.6 million households in the UK would beg to prove you wrong, and that is a decent number of customers in anyone's book.

And that is before you start to consider exactly how green this business is. Moooo!

RDF Media Plc (RDF) - The Director's Cut

December 12th, 2007

OK, OK. Hands up. We all make mistakes. And we did.

But, hey, there’s no sense in burying a good film just because there’s a teensy-weensy little error in it. It's only fair that we put it right.

So here for your viewing pleasure is a second chance to see one of our favourite shows – first broadcast on December 4. Give it up for RDF Media – the Director's Cut.

Two mistakes ! The Blue Peter was named sox not cookie !

  2. Mike Hart Says:

Ha ha ha RDF of all people getting the hump about dodgy editing. Oh the irony of it.
Personally I think it is time for the Beeb to bring its program making back in house. Outsourcing was supposed to improve the quality and reduce costs; it hasn’t done either. TV production is just as bad if not worse than it was in the 70’s and 80’s the major difference being there are more management snouts in the trough with the inevitable reduction in funding for programming.
Bring back the test card. At least the background music to it kept granny happy.

iBall Interviews Mark Shipman

December 7th, 2007

IF Mark Shipman was American, he would be publicly known as a ‘winner’. But because he is British, hardly anyone knows who he is.

After making a fortune in the deadly bear pits of the 1980s futures dealing rooms, he established his own hedge fund, Silver Knight Investment Management, and retired twice, the last time aged 36.

Now he runs trading seminars, owns racehorses and writes little books with big titles like: Big Money, Little Effort. A winning strategy for Profitable Long-term investment.
He’s never really pulled a punch. So it’s appropriate that we caught up with him in The Ring boxing gym.

Character Group Plc (CCT)

December 3rd, 2007

From Doctor Who to Pippa the Pig via Scooby Doo The Character Group markets toys for children of all ages (and the odd grown-up).

However, whilst the Timelord continues to excel what does the future hold in store for the share price - with the recent recall of the Bindeez range it’s not all been a rosy picture.

Will the anticipated Christmas rush see the tills ringing to The Character Groups’ tune?

There’s more than one online auction house you know, and old style tech investors might remember this one.

It seems not every person under 30 in Poland has migrated across Europe to help out with the UK economy.

Enough stayed at home and helped turn this share into a stellar performer…
